Eusebio Sánchez offers an exquisite and peculiar electroacoustic album in which traditional instruments like the marimba and baliphone unfold in stylings as ancient as they are current. "Neoafrique" was produced from a series of guided improvisations built on melodic and rhythmic ideas compiled from personal recordings over the last few years. Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, the marimbista considers improvisation as an exercise in decolonization in a contemporary world that increasingly seeks to structure and give more predictable and premeditated responses. This musical and personal search becomes a reflection in which the community becomes an aesthetic resource.
